ANTWERP CAR FREE 15/9

During Antwerp’s Car-free Sunday, the city centre between Leien and Schelde will be closed to car traffic between 10:00 and 18:00. All areas in the south of the city will be included in the car-free zone, with the exception of the Gedempte Zuiderdokken. In the north of the city, the zone will be bordered by Amsterdamstraat and Londenstraat. This means that you will not be able to drive into the city centre during this period.

Residents living within this zone will be allowed to park their cars there. You will also be allowed to leave the zone, but you will not be able to return until after 18:00.

The complete through-traffic ban does not apply to:

  • Public transportation.
  • Public utility services, assistance and security services, and certified monetary transports.
  • Taxis and taxi-bikes.
  • Private citizens leaving the car-free zone from public and underground car parks.
  • Individuals with handicapped parking permits.
  • Individuals with official through passes may also enter the car-free zone (through passes may be requested using an online form). Through passes may be requested through Sunday 15 September. Be sure to count on several hours to process your application.
